Supporting Schools and Communities Before the Summer Break

Over the last few weeks, Frank Rogers Building Contractors has been busy supporting a number of careers, school engagement and work experience activities before students finished for the summer break.

Our Head of Marketing and Communications, Rachel W., attended St John Bosco Arts College to support Year 10 practice interviews, organised by Elevate Education Business Partnership.. Around 100 students took part, giving them the chance to practise speaking about themselves, build confidence and develop interview skills with someone new.

We also attended the Career Discovery Day at Range High School, another brilliant event organised by Elevate EBP, where around 800 students from Years 7 to 10 explored different career pathways. It was especially lovely to see so many young girls interested in construction.

Rachel was also invited to take part in the Work Xp Icons panel talk at Holly Lodge Girls’ College, led by Kirsty Doyle. The panel brought together women from a range of industries to speak honestly about their careers, challenges and routes into work.

Rachel shared her experience working in marketing within construction. The feedback from the school was fantastic, with students described as “buzzing” afterwards.

Alongside this, we have also welcomed young people into the business for work experience.

Alex joined us to gain insight into quantity surveying, including measuring and scaling drawings, reviewing work packages and learning about pricing and estimating.

Maci spent time supporting HR with policy reviews, right to work documentation, employee wellbeing research, apprenticeship support and upcoming employment law changes.

Max joined us to gain experience as an apprentice joiner, learning more about the practical skills and day-to-day work involved in the trade.

For us, social value is about creating meaningful opportunities, building confidence and helping young people understand the wide range of careers available across construction and beyond.

Schools may be out for summer, but our commitment to supporting young people, careers education and future talent continues.
