Industry Collaboration in Action

01/10/2025

This week, Frank Rogers Fire Protection were proud to co-host a dedicated Fire Door Competence & Compliance CPD Event in partnership with FDM Training & Development.

Delivered at FDM’s specialist training facility, the event brought together housing providers, building safety leads, asset managers and compliance professionals for a day focused on:

Legal duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

Requirements of Regulation 10 (Fire Safety England Regulations 2022)

The role of the Responsible Person and fire door inspector in maintaining compliance

Best practice in training, upskilling and evidencing individual competence supporting Article 18

As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve under the Building Safety Act, it’s more important than ever that those managing fire door stock — particularly in social housing and high-risk residential buildings — have access to transparent, qualified, and auditable fire door services.

“Competence isn’t a badge — it’s a behavioural standard.
By embedding SKEB at every level, we are ensuring individual competence that goes beyond tick-box compliance.

At FR Fire Protection, we’re not waiting for further regulation to be enforced - we’re setting the standard ourselves. In an industry still grappling with the legacy of Grenfell, it is our collective responsibility to self-regulate, challenge complacency, and prioritise life safety in every decision we make. We believe that competence should not be optional.

It must be visible, verifiable, and continuously assessed — not just at company level, but at an individual level, on every door, every site, every time.”

Fire doors are not just a product — they are a critical life safety system. Let’s treat them that way.
