Case studies
Frank Rogers Building Contractors were appointed by Dreese and Sommer to deliver the refurbishment of two lecture theatres and two classrooms at Reaseheath College, Nantwich.
The works were to be completed over a tight 9-week summer holiday period, within a live college environment. Challenges included maintaining health and safety during a crane lift operation for an air handling unit (AHU) installation on the roof, and coordinating high-volume mechanical and AV upgrades with minimal disruption to surrounding facilities.
The scope of work was extensive and tailored to each learning space. The works included removal of existing flooring and adhesive, decommissioning and infilling of floor boxes, strip-out of folding screens, and refurbishment of ceilings and lighting systems in line with new M&E drawings. New LED lighting, wall and woodwork decorations, and ceiling repairs were carried out to enhance the learning environment.
In Lecture Theatre 1 (HE), we removed tiered flooring, screen/projector equipment, windows, fire escape doors, and internal finishes to allow for a full strip-out. Works included mechanical upgrades, new suspended ceilings, new UPVC windows and aluminium fire escape doors, new AV installations (including lectern), vinyl flooring, acoustic oak panels, and a fully automated retractable seating system. Lecture Theatre 2 (FE) followed a similar scope, including bricking up of external windows, AV installation, vinyl flooring, mechanical upgrades, and installation of fixed seating.
A contract lift was successfully coordinated to install the AHU, and all works were managed by an experienced team.
The £340,000 project was delivered on time and within budget, with all spaces finished to a high standard. The college now benefits from modern, functional, and technology-rich teaching spaces that enhance both the student and staff experience. Client feedback was extremely positive, with particular praise for the quality of the finish and the performance of the site team throughout the project.
