Things are heating up at Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club following the installation of a free boiler from contractor, Frank Rogers.
The firm has been carrying out planned and reactive maintenance work at housing stock throughout Wirral on behalf of client Leasowe Community Homes and was keen to give something back to the local community.
Barry Fallows of Frank Rogers explained:
“We’ve worked with Leasowe Community Homes for some time fo and our work puts us at the heart of the communities, carrying out a range of works in people’s homes. We were keen to get involved in a local community project and the team at LCH put us in touch with the Leasowe-based boxing club who were having issues with the heating at the centre.”
The club provides support and facilities for a wide range of people in all age groups. Amateur boxers are able to train and develop their skills at the club, whilst box fit classes are delivered by qualified and skilled instructors. The club encourages teenage boys and girls to attend, developing important skills and attributes whilst tackling serious social issues from obesity to anti-social behaviour.
“We’ve now installed a brand new commercial boiler that will certainly inject some heat into the club. The team there were really pleased to be given the support and we were happy to be able to utilise our skills and resources to improve the facilities at this important community centre.”
Terry Finlay from Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club added:
“On behalf of the committee and members of Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Kevin Nolan of Leasowe Community Homes, Barry Fallows of Frank Rogers and Anita Leech Labour Councillor for Leasowe for becoming involved with our club and their kind generosity.
“Being a charitable organisation, we survive on the voluntary work of the committee and coaching staff and the kind donations made by individuals and businesses. It is the acts of kindness and generosity shown by your company that enables Wallasey A.B.C to continue to provide a much needed and respected service to the local community.
“In generously donating and installing a water boiler they have helped to improve the environment for our members ensuring the ongoing safety and sustainability of the benefit of the local community for many years to come.”
